Mamelodi Sundowns star Cassius Mailula has attracted interested from French Ligue 1 giants Monaco following his breakout season in the PSL.

According to a report by Unplayable, as first reported on Power FM, Monaco are very keen on singing 22-year-old Mailula for the new season.

Mailula had a season to remember for years to come at Sundowns, scoring 15 goals across all competitions and winning league with Rhulani Mokwena’s side.

He topped that with a Young Player of the Season accolade at the PSL awards in May, and perhaps the timing is right for him to leave.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS STAR MAILULA WANTED BY FRANCE GIANTS MONACO

NOT THE FIRST TIME MONACO SHOW INTEREST IN SA TALENT

This is not the first time that Monaco are attracted by South African talent. In 2019, Lyle Foster caught their eye while on the books of Orlando Pirates.

At the time, Foster was just 17 and had just had his biggest break in football with Pirates. After undergoing a successful trial, the lanky striker joined Monaco soon after his 18th birthday.

Today, Foster is a Premier League player with Burnley but of course, this came years later after a number of loan moves across Europe.

And Mailula appears to be more matured and ready than when Foster first made his move to Monaco, but all depends on whether or not Sundowns are willing to sell him.
