BREAKING: Sundowns official Alex Shakoane passes away [RIP]

Mamelodi Sundowns are mourning the sudden passing away of veteran official Alex Shakoane who had been with them for decades.

According to UnplayableZA, Shakoane passed away on Sunday following a short battle with stroke.

Shakoane held various positions during his years with Sundowns, including the PRO role that made him popular among the football fans.

Prior to his death, Shakoane was the Sundowns Supporters Mobilisation Manager, responsible for liaising with the club fans.

“He suffered a stroke recently, and never recovered,” reports a source known to UnplayableZA.

“It was decided by myself and the board that I work closely with the supporters and help restore the club’s good name, which was unfortunately tainted by what happened earlier in the year,” Shakoane told Sowetan at the time.

“As the club, we felt it was important that the supporters are taught the importance of good behaviour, regardless of the results.

“I will be assuming my new post soon and will be travelling countrywide talking to our supporters.”
