Although Chiefs were never credited with an interest in Haashim Domingo, who has now left Mamelodi Sundowns, their fans urging their club to sign him.

In all fairness to the Chiefs fans, a player like Domingo seemed to be a perfect signing for Amakhosi. A player who is in his prime years, who offers an option as both a playmaker and box-to-box midfielder, as well as a wide option, all areas of the pitch the club lacked in last season, there were no signs that they were even considering roping in the player.

Reports came out earlier in the month that Domingo will not be renewing his contract with Sundowns, after the two parties failed to agree on fresh terms. Masandawana then wasted no time in roping up their replacement, immediately starting transfer talks with Stellenbosch FC for playmaker Junior Mendieta

It was suggested that it was Sundowns’ crosstown rivals SuperSport United, who were interested in snapping up the signature of Domingo, but now according to iDiski Times, the player is set for a move to North Africa. The publication suggests that his next destination is three time CAF Champions League winners Raja Club Athletic

“We will sign Domingo. It’s as good as done,” the above publication claim a source told them, which would then seem like a person associated with Raja Club Athletic.

Despite only featuring only 17 times across all competitions from the previous campaign, it is thought that Sundowns head coach was keen to keep Domingo at the club. That would then make sense as the player was negotiating for a new deal after all.
