LOL: Cyril Ramaphosa for the Kaizer Chiefs job?

We’re not saying Cyril Ramaphosa should apply for the Kaizer Chiefs job but we’re also not saying he shouldn’t.

No, today is not April 1st, but we may as well examine Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa and his football management credentials. The Kaizer Chiefs job is available, so why not, you know?

ICYMI: Is nepotism destroying the mighty Kaizer Chiefs dynasty?

Why Ramaphosa is a candidate for the Kaizer Chiefs job

CYRIL WAS BORN IN SOWETO

Just like Kaizer Chiefs, Cyril Ramaphosa was birthed in Soweto. It’s a place that will forever be synonymous with football excellence in South Africa. A tenuous link, sure, but still a link.

ACCUSTOMED TO PRESSURE COOKER SCENARIOS

70-year-old Cyril Ramaphosa has dealt with pressure throughout his professional life. It’s a daily reality for South Africa’s president. Now, more than ever, he’s up against national scrutiny and that’s got to take its toll. On the upside, it must also build serious tolerance to stressful situations. Just read The South African on any day of the week, and you’ll be acutely aware of the ridiculous pressure Kaizer Chiefs managers face.

CYRIL RAMAPHOSA IS A FOOTBALL LOVER

Okay, I really don’t know if he is or if he isn’t a fanatical football follower, but why wouldn’t he be? Football is quite literally the beautiful game. What I know for sure though is that Cyril Ramaphosa is a big believer in South African sport and its continued success.

LIKE KAIZER CHIEFS, CYRIL MIGHT BE PAST HIS BEST

Say it quietly, but Kaizer Chiefs as a football club is a sleeping giant. Cyril Ramaphosa, like any public figure, must accept the reality that his actions and performance are scrutinized daily. Perhaps Cyril could bring the best out of an institution that he can relate to on a personal level. Amakhosi haven’t win a trophy since 2015.

Ntseki needs replacing

With Monday’s news of Molefi Ntseki’s exit from the club still reverberating around Mzansi, the Glamour Boys need a new long-term solution after Cavin Johnson sees out his interim stint. Whoever gets placed at the helm better be ready for a world of pressure and unrealistic expectations.
