TS Galaxy sign Nigerian striker

TS Galaxy have confirmed the signing of Nigerian striker Augustine Kwem.

The Rockets reportedly confirmed the agreement with Chippa United on Friday, but would not reveal the fee paid for the 23-year-old hitman.

“TS Galaxy FC has reached an agreement with Chippa United FC for the transfer of Augustine Chidi Kwem for an undisclosed transfer fee,” read a statement released by the club.

“Kwem will be at The Rockets base for the next two seasons with an option to extend for a further two seasons.

“We have indeed bought Augustine Kwem from Chippa United. It was one of those smooth transactions that was concluded in the most professional manner between the two clubs,” club boss Tim Sukazi said in the statement.

“We believe that Kwem is one striker who could add value to our current striking force that has done a sterling job for our club up to so far.

“We thought it wise to conclude on such a move now rather than later to allow the necessary paperwork to be finalized as early as possible before the start of the new season.”

AmaZulu chairman Sandile Zungu has lashed out at Sibusiso Mabiliso’s agents for misleading the club in their efforts to secure him a move to Kaizer Chiefs.

Zungu says the agents told him that there were offers for the left back to move abroad before the player began talks with Kaizer Chiefs.

“The agent of Mabiliso told us he wants to sell him overseas and that he won’t want to shop him around locally,” Zungu said according to Soccer Laduma.

“So, I am surprised to hear that (he could join Chiefs). I am telling you what the agent said. These agents operate in their own world. Maybe talk to him because he gave us an absolute assurance as AmaZulu that he will only leave the club when he goes overseas. In as much as they are free to do whatever they want with the player, I won’t play his game or sweep his rubbish. So, he must talk for himself. I talk for my players, I don’t talk for agents.”

SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo has expressed concern over links between Sipho Mbule and Kaizer Chiefs.

Mbule is a promising young player with a big future and Tembo knows that the links are an indication of that promise but he fears they may prove a distraction.

“It has always been the case with our team whereby most of our players are always targeted in terms of other teams wanting them,” Tembo told the Citizen.

“It also shows the quality that we have if most of the clubs are always looking to get players from, at the same time it is also difficult for the young players because that can also destabilize them and derail their progress because if you hear about big teams being mentioned alongside your name, it might also destruct him on the primary thing which is playing football.

“As a club we have to try and make sure that they are level headed and they keep their feet on the ground because in this industry you are always as good as your last game,” he added.

“One minute people want you because you are playing well and the moment you are no longer performing they shift focus and go somewhere else. Consistency is very key, that is what I have been preaching to my youngsters.”
