OPINION: Four Bafana stars who should move abroad after AFCON

Mduduzi Shabalala must pull his socks up at Kaizer Chiefs

The Citizen is reporting that Shabalala is on thin ice at Amakhosi.

“Mdu is a top player. If you’ve ever seen him play in the development team, you would agree with me. That is why he was promoted to the first team; he is very talented, and he was hungrier than now. He is so relaxed, and it’s a pity because once his contract ends, he will just end up like Emmanuel Letlotlo. I know a lot of people think Chiefs don’t give these players advice, but they do. Mdu just needs to work hard, and when he is allowed to play, he must show that he deserves it,” said its source.

Mdu or die’ underwhelming so far this season

Mdu Shabalala made his Chiefs debut at the end of the 2021/22 campaign and scored his first senior goal on the opening day of the 2022/23 season. This season has been a struggle for the 20-year-old, with 11 appearances all told and zero goals or assists to show for it. He’ll be hoping the second half of the campaign brings different fortunes.
