Kaizer Chiefs welcome the high-flying Stellenbosch FC to the FNB stadium for a crunch DStv Premiership clash this afternoon.

Both teams head into today’s clash in blistering form with Kaizer Chiefs being unbeaten in their previous four matches while they’ll be looking to extend their winning streak to three matches this afternoon.

Stellenbosch on the other hand sit in second position on the DStv Premiership log standings and a victory today will see them go level on top with Mamelodi Sundowns.

Kaizer Chiefs vs Stellenbosch: Latest INJURY updates

Kaizer Chiefs will be without the services of Siyabonga Ngezana, Leonardo Castro and Samir Nurkovic through long term injuries while Lebogang Manyama remains a doubt.

The positive injury news from Naturena is that Dumisani Zuma has been training and could feature this afternoon. Stellenbosch themselves are set to be without experienced defender Robyn Johannes through a long-term injury.

Barker wary of dangerous Amakhosi

“Yes, I do, I think for various reasons Kaizer Chiefs are the biggest test for us. I think, obviously, the quality of our opposition, they also have seemed to have turned a corner, so I’m sure the confidence and belief is high, with some of their high profile players starting to have an impact.” Stellenbosch head coach Steve Barker said.

“You know, this is also our fifth away game in nine. So, that is also not easy, you know, to keep traveling. So ja, it is going to be a big test, but at the same time, we rather look at it as a big challenge. I think it will be a good indicator of where we have come as a team, and what we are capable of achieving. So I think it’ll be a good barometer for us to see where we are at.

“Keagan Dolly is showing the quality that he has and everybody knows he possesses so much quality. We definitely can’t allow him the freedom and space, especially in the final third. But it’s not only him. The movement of the Kaizer Chiefs front three has been really good. They’ve got good quality midfielders and defensively they are solid as well, so those are signs of a team that’s being well coached.”
