Kaizer Chiefs wholesale changes are now official underway. They have brought in new coaches and their first departures have been confirmed.

Kaizer Chiefs called up a couple of players to inform them that they will be released.

Meaning, for these Amakhosi players, there days at Naturena are numbered.

CHIEFS RELEASE SEVERAL PLAYERS

Kaizer Chiefs have informed Keagan Dolly, Siyethembe Sithebe, S’fiso Hlanti and Njabulo Ngcobo that they will be released.

“Kaizer Chiefs have parted ways with Keagan Dolly, Sifiso Hlanti, Siyethemba Sithebe and Njabulo Ngcobo,” as stated on Goal.

Meaning, Chiefs have a new-highest paid player. This is because Dolly was the highest-paid player in the league over the past few seasons. However, it will be interesting to see what his new salary looks like at his next club. Interestingly, Dolly has already attracted interest from Cape Town City, AmaZulu and SuperSport United.

Sithebe is the first Chiefs player to confirm his exit. He was also one of the most valuable, valued at R10 million on Transfermarkt.

Meanwhile, Hlanti joins a long list of PSL veterans who are now free agents. The likes of Sibusiso Vilakazi, Bongani Zungu, Kermit Erasmus and Dolly are all well-known and widely respected PSL icons. This prolific list features former Orlando Pirates and Sundowns players.

Finally, Ngcobo has reportedly reached an agreement to join PSL rivals, Sekhukhune United.

MORE EXITS IMMINENT

Amakhosi have only just began their squad overhaul. To date, one Chiefs coach has departed Naturena. Meanwhile, the aforementioned quartet of Chiefs players will be released. Moreover, an official announcement from Chiefs is expected soon.

However, for the current crop of players and the coaching staff, it is the beginning of the end of their time at Naturena.

In fact, Chiefs have already decided to release another player. Meanwhile, Amakhosi’s second coaching is heading out of Naturena. Unfortunately, the axe is just being sharpened as it will be wielded left right and centre as Amakhosi usher in the new era. Therefore, several players and coaches will face the axe in coming days and weeks. Ultimately, Chiefs are waiting to announce their new coach before the major player movements begin.
