A Kaizer Chiefs transfer target has opened up regarding his long-standing desire to don the Amakhosi jersey.

Stellenbosch FC sensation Ashley Du Preez has revealed that he grew up dreaming of representing Kaizer Chiefs.

Gavin Hunt is expected to make a number of signings at the end of the season following the completion of Kaizer Chiefs’ transfer ban and the 23-year-old Stellenbosch speedster is rumoured to be on Hunt’s wishlist ahead of his overhaul at Naturena.

It was always my dream to play for Kaizer Chiefs – Ashley Du Preez

“As a young kid I’ve always dreamt of playing for Kaizer Chiefs, they are a bigger team in the PSL but for now I’m happy at Stellenbosch FC. I’ve settled in very well, my long-term goal is obviously moving abroad.” – Ashley Du Preez told members of the media during the recently concluded U23 international training camp.

“My mind is in Stellenbosch, I saw rumours about Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, thats not where I put my mind to, I’m at Stellenbosch and I’m happy, I’m just doing my thing there and gaining experience in the top tier,”

Du Preez already has four goals and three assists for Stellenbosch FC in 17 domestic matches so far this season. He offers great versatility in attack having featured as both a winger and striker for Steve Barker’s men this season.

One thing Kaizer Chiefs do lack in their current attack is blistering pace. The likes of Leonardo Castro, Samir Nurkovic and Bernard Parker are not the fastest attackers around while Khama Billiat will take some time to return to his optimal condition following a lengthy injury.

Gavin Hunt is also rumoured to be looking at Kgaogelo Sekgota who could offer the Amakhosi another speedy outlet on the wing alongside Ashley Du Preez.
