FIXTURES: Next six tests for Amakhosi

Saile slowly settling in at Kaizer Chiefs

Former Nchanga Rangers striker Christian Saile has been an impact player for the majority of his Chiefs career in wide areas. Three goals and an assist in 18 appearances shows room for improvement, however. Speaking through Keagan Dolly as his translator, Saile pinpointed why he hasn’t yet found his best goal-scoring form.

“Obviously, the leagues are not the same. The PSL is a bit difficult, I needed a bit of time to adapt. I feel like I’m getting there” Saile said.

“I’m working hard to start scoring goals and getting the confidence. There’s a big difference in the way we play in South Africa and Zambia. In Zambia, there’s a lot of running and here it’s more possession football. You have to avail yourself properly. Over there (in Zambia) sometimes the defenders will give you the ball just to score” he said jokingly.

Talking tactics

Saile has also explained the difference between the football played under former boss Molefi Ntseki and current interim manager Cavin Johnson. With Ntseki, wingers were told to invert. Now, wingers are instructed to stay wider to create more one-on-ones which can lead to increased goal-scoring opportunities.
