Kaizer Chiefs star Reeve Frosler has opened up on the award winning goal he scored in last month’s DStv Premiership Soweto derby against rivals Orlando Pirates.

The former Bidvest Wits defender won the ‘DStv Premiership Goal of The Month award for February and March 2022′ after his thunderous strike proved to be a fan favourite.

Frosler opened the scoring for Kaizer Chiefs against arch rivals Orlando Pirates after being played in by captain Bernard Parker in the 18th minute.

The utility defender smashed the ball into Siyabonga Mpontshane’s far corner, and despite getting a touch to it, the Orlando Pirates goalkeeper was unable to save it.

“It feels nice and special to win an award for a goal that came in a game like this, a Soweto Derby.” Frosler told the Kaizer Chiefs official club website.

“It feels so much more significant to me given the game and the stage. I saw the ball played to Khama (Billiat) and I thought let me just go forward, it came to Bernard (Parker).

“He set me up and when I struck the ball, all I thought was hit through the ball and get it on target.” the Kaizer Chiefs star continued.

“I hit through the ball, it was on target and as soon as I hit it I thought the keeper had the ball, but then I saw he did not get a strong hand to it and I thought ‘Yoh! it went in’.”

Reeve Frosler thanks Amakhosi faithful!

“Let’s go for more of these awards and let’s hope we can score more goals this season. I would like to personally thank the Kaizer Chiefs supporters for voting for me.”
