Like has been the case ahead of the two previous derbies from this season, Pirates are being touted as favourites, but if the results of the league games is anything to go by, Chiefs will not be fazed by that. A 2-1 loss to Swallows FC in the earlier Soweto Derby of the week, will see Chiefs enter this particular game with a familiar feeling. Pirates on the other hand, also failed to get all three points in their last game at home to Royal AM. Having led for all but the last second of the second half, the Buccaneers conceded a last minute goal which sure made the draw, ultimately feel like a loss.

Chiefs, however, have found themselves extremely unlucky with injuries of late with key players such as vice-captain Keagan Dolly and star centre back Edmilson Dove, the latest to be ruled out. There could, however, be a positive update on one stalwart who has been missing for months on end, and that is Khama Billiat. According to people who were present at Naturena during the week, the tricky attacker was seen training with his boots for the first time by the outsiders since returning to the pitch.

Will Billiat play against Pirates?

It is not clear how long Billiat has been at that stage of his training for, with him either not yet match fit or being deemed fit enough to play some part of the Soweto Derby against Pirates, having been doing fitness and recovery work on the field for at least a month now. Coach Arthur Zwane had also alluded to the fact that there is a chance that the former Zimbabwe international could be fit enough to play some part this season and this could be it.
