Look away Kaizer Chiefs fans, creative midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo won’t be making a return from injury this season!

Kaizer Chiefs face the uphill battle of qualifying for the 2023/24 CAF Champions League by finishing in second place in this season’s league campaign.

SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates both sit three points ahead of the Glamour Boys with five games to go.

Arthur Zwane’s side are also still in contention for the Nedbank Cup trophy after qualifying for the tournament’s last eight.

They’ll however have to compete without one of their star players due to injury.

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane confirmed highly talented midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo has been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign through injury.

Kaizer Chiefs ace to miss rest of season

Nkosingiphile Ngcobo won’t be returning this season for the Glamour Boys due to a groin injury.

The diminutive midfielder was Zwane’s preferred attacking midfield choice before suffering injury.

Ngcobo made 16 appearances for Kaizer Chiefs this season but has been missing due to injury since January 2023.

“The number of injuries we have suffered to key players this season was a big blow for us…. Mshini (Ngcobo) is out for this season.” a TimesLive report read.

In other news, Kaizer Chiefs attacker Ashley Du Preez has opened up on his maiden campaign at the club.

While many expected fireworks, despite showing signs of the promise the attacker has been largely underwhelming for Zwane.

With a handful of games to go, Du Preez has eight goals and five assists for the Glamour Boys in all competitions. (25 games)

The attacker himself has admitted that his output is indeed worrying while claiming he aims to score in EVERY remaining match.

Du Preez reveals bold goal target

“I think I can do more, I’m not happy at the moment. There are six games to go and a cup game. My goal is to score in every game.” the Kaizer Chiefs attacker said as quoted by FarPost.

“I haven’t achieved my goal, but at the beginning my goal was to score 10 goals in the season. I’m on four goals in the league, in all competitions I think seven.

“I think I just need to learn to score more goals and practise.”
