Ex Kaizer Chiefs star bosses Lionel Messi’s new team Inter

Former Kaizer Chiefs star Njabulo Blom put in another solid shift in the MLS this weekend.

Blom’s St Louis City thumped Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami 3-0 on Saturday night.

Though Messi is yet to officially play for the struggling MLS side, he was unveiled as a new Inter Miami player hours before their clash against St Louis.

Former Kaizer Chiefs star Njabulo Blom featured for the entire 90 minutes in his side’s victory, putting on another clean performance for Bradley Carnell’s side.

Njabulo Blom ended the match with the highest passing accuracy rate of 92%. Blom also ended the match with most interceptions (2).

Only Aziel Jackson (3) made more key passes than Njabulo Blom (2) in his side’s dominant victory. (All statistics via WhoScored)

The win means St Louis City remain the top of the Western conference log standings. Lionel Messi on the other hand will have his work cut out for him as Inter Miami sit rock bottom of the Eastern Conference.

In other news, Kgaogelo Sekgota has been linked with an exit from Kaizer Chiefs ahead of next season.

The speedy winger is reportedly drawing interest from Stellenbosch FC as well as from Belgium!

Sekgota has one year left on his contract at the Glamour after joining them in 2021 from Swallows.

The latest reports suggest Stellies will next table an offer for the 26-year-old Bafana Bafana international.

“Stellenbosch FC have approached Kaizer Chiefs over the services of winger Kgaogelo Sekgota, who has a year left on his contract.” a SABC SPORT report read.

“But they will have stiff competition to try get a deal over the line with news that the player has also attracted interest from Belgium.

“Stellenbosch’s pursuit of Sekgota depends on whether they are willing to meet Kaizer Chiefs’ valuation for Sekgota as well as the player’s personal terms.

“It is likely allowing him to go abroad is more favourable, and should any potential move fall flat then Amakhosi risk losing the player as a free agent a year from now unless they table a contract extension.”
