Kaizer Chiefs could be set to lose one of their key players ahead of the second half of the DStv Premiership according to the latest!

A club from the Middle Eastern region is believed to be tracking the performances of a key Kaizer Chiefs star.

With Chiefs looking to make changes to their squad, they could lose one of their regulars in Edmilson Dove

Dove has been on of the most consistent players at Chiefs, since joining the club on a free last season. The versatile defender has starred both at centre back and left-back for Amakhosi over the past season and a half. Last season, he and fellow new signing Zitha Kwinika seemed to be the preferred centre back pairing at the club.

The duo kept two Soweto Derby clean sheets for Chiefs, with Dove going winning Man of the Match in both games. The Mozambican international saw his first campaign at the club end prematurely duo to injury. He then found himself injured in a pre-season game away to Yanga FC ahead of the current campaign. Upon his return, he won his place back in the starting line-up and has not looked back.

His form was rewarded with a starting berth for his country in the AFCON, before they were knocked on Monday. But according to the latest reports, Dove may have already done enough to attract suitors abroad. 

Chiefs braced for Saudi interest in Dove?

“Edmilson Dove had a good start at the Africa Cup of Nations with his inspiring performance for the national team of Mozambique as they drew 2-2 with Egypt in the opening match last weekend. It might still be early in the tournament, but the player has already impressed scouts from some of the clubs from around the world. There are scouts from a club in Saudi Arabia that are following the player seriously and you can expect them to make an offer for his services after the tournament as long as he continues to do well,” said the source to Soccer-Laduma.

Chiefs team manager Bobby Motaung did hint they would take up the option for a year extension on Dove’s deal. It remains to be seen if they do so, just to cash in on the 29-year-old.
