If Kaizer Chiefs can land this half-dozen top transfer targets then they might just be in business next season.

Kaizer Chiefs linked to six marquee names

According to local media outlets, Chiefs are desperate to shake things up in all areas of the pitch. That will mean bringing in several high-profile names, but also shedding some deadweight in the process. Amakhosi top brass are keen on Elias Mokwana, Oswin Appollis, Fawaaz Basadien, Ashley Cupido, Salim Magoola and Iqraam Rayners. That list of rumoured targets comprises mostly attackers, but there’s also a need for a new custodian in goal once club legend Itumeleng Khune moves onto a new challenge. Cupido will likely be relegated with Cape Town Spurs and won’t stay with the Mother City club, while goalkeeper Magoola is also thought to be keen on a new challenge at a top club.

According to Soccer-Laduma, Amakhosi want to revisit their interest in 28-year-old Bafana Bafana attacker Iqraam Rayners when the current season finishes.

“Chiefs have set up a meeting with Stellies discuss Rayners. They need someone who can score goals for the team and Rayners has proven he is able to do that at every level,” said a source to the same publication.

Rayners has been in outstanding form this season, bagging eight goals and an assist in 20 league appearances. He’s also stood out in the Nedbank Cup, providing four assists in two appearances.

According to a report from iDiski Times, it would take R35 million to prize Elias Mokwana, Babina Noko’s jewel in the crown, away from Sekhukhune.

“Sekhukhune United and Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana envisioned this rise while in the ABC Motsepe League and said his R35 million price tag is not of his concern.”

Top management within Sekhukhune is reportedly willing to play hardball and this might invite interest from higher bidders like Sundowns.
