Kaizer Chiefs are on the verge of signing Bafana Bafana midfielder Thabo Cele, according to SABC Sport reports.

Chiefs offer Cele a three-year-deal

According to the public broadcaster SABC Sport, Kaizer Chiefs have offered Thabo Cele a three-year deal. He’s set to become a free agent after Polish Ekstraklasa side Radomiak, who he has been with since 2021, chose not to extend his contract. Prior to signing for Radomiak, Cele spent five years playing his football in Portugal at various levels. This is a man with bags of valuable and varied experience.

Holding midfield general, just what Chiefs need?

The 26-year-old KwaMashu-born star impressed in the engine room on recent COSAFA Cup squad duty with Bafana. He’s a natural, specialist holding midfielder but has box-to-box capabilities which make him a valuable asset. Amakhosi supporters around the country have been crying out for a commanding, authoritative midfield general since the departure of Njabulo Blom to St Louis City in the MLS.

Cele made 20 appearances for Radomiak last season and has earned 7 Bafana Bafana caps. He was handed his international debut by Stuart Baxter in 2017.
