Kaizer Chiefs latest: Sheppard reveals his role as Zwane’s assistant

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Dillon Sheppard has revealed what his role as Arthur Zwane’s right-hand man at the club.

The two former PSL stars have at the helm of Amakhosi on a permanent basis since the start of the season, but it is Zwane who’s been more in the news.

And that’s because Chiefs have been blowing hot and cold due to a number of reasons, including tactics, team selection, injuries, and suspensions among others.

Now, questions have been asked as to what Sheppard is doing to help Zwane awake the sleeping giant that Chiefs as he works with him every single day.

Sheppard responded to say he’s there to help and support Zwane in whichever way he wants, saying the Chiefs head coach can sleep peacefully knowing that he’s right behind him.

“My role as coach Zwane’s assistant is to assist him in every possible way,” Sheppard told reporters.

“I am there for him as support. I need to be there for him, even when times are tough he knows I’ve got his back one hundred per cent, really, really important.

“He knows, when he goes home at night, hopefully he can sleep well, knowing that he has got all the support that he needs in the world, because we know what this job is about, being the coach of Kaizer Chiefs and the pressures that come with it. With a little bit of the history now.

“He knows he’s got me 100% support him, 24/7, and whatever is needed, I’m there for that.”
