Kaizer Chiefs have struggled in front of goal for two seasons now and are targeting a prolific striker.

It is believed that Chiefs have already started working on and identifying player targets ahead of next season.

This publication reported in February that Chiefs will be prioritising the signing of a striker at the end of the season. That might be a surprise as the club signed Ranga Chivaviro and Jasond Gonzales at the beginning of the campaign. Unfortunately for the duo and the club management, however, they both haven’t had the desired effect as yet.

Current strikers misfiring

Chivaviro has only managed two goals for Chiefs thus far. Those, however, are two goals more than fellow new striker signing Gonzalez, who is yet to get off the mark. The Colombian came to the country with the reputation of being a goal machine, but has found the going tough. He has not managed to find the back of the net in the 13 games he has played for Amakhosi.

It was then not surprise when reports came out earlier this year, indicating Chiefs would part ways with Gonzales. But now, according to Soccer-Laduma Amakhosi are ready to revisit their interest in Bafana Bafana striker Iqraam Rayners in the next transfer window!

Chiefs set up talks for Rayners

“Chiefs have set up a meeting with Stellies where Rayners will be discussed. They need someone who can score goals for the team and Rayners has proven he is able to do that at every level,” said a source to the same publication.

At the back end of last season, Chiefs were also rumoured to have shown interest in Rayners. The player had just returned to Stellenbosch from a disappointing spell with SuperSport United. He proved his quality once again in the Winelands, becoming one of the league’s top goal scorers. This season, he has also netted nine goals and laid six assists in 29 games in all competitions thus far.
