The last weekend of 2023 saw PSL sides play their final fixtures of the first round of the league for about two months, with Chiefs playing their last game on Saturday the 30th. 

Chiefs missed a glorious opportunity

It did not quite go according to plan for Chiefs, however, as they had to come from behind to claim a point in a 1-1 draw away, against Sekhukhune United. Amakhosi got to level matters through the long range effort of striker Ranga Chivaviro. The share of the spoils would’ve felt like a lost opportunity for the Glamour Boys, who had won the last three of their games and kept clean sheets in them. To further exasperate them, the goal from their hosts proved to be offside and should have not stood.

Now in terms of league football, they will have to bottle that frustration until February, but luckily for Chiefs fans, they may not have to wait that long before getting the opportunity to watch their beloved club in action again. This is because, according to FarPost, they will be squaring off against Indian second tier side Sreenidi Deccan

Friendly with Sreenidi Deccan

While the PSL will be on a break for six weeks, the Asian leagues will be in a similar situation due to the Asian Cup. Chiefs and Sreenidi Deccan were clearly not content to rest throughout that period, with the duo set to take each other on at Moses Mabhida Stadium on 27 January. With just the one player gone to AFCON for Amakhosi, coach Cavin Johnson is likely to have a full compliment of players available for that fixture.

Furthermore, he can choose how he wants to approach the game, as he could be working on combinations and building up his starting 11, or he can give some of the fringe Chiefs players an opportunity to impress.
