Kaizer Chiefs have set a huge asking price for Ashley Du Preez as they look to cash in on him as his value peaks.

Kaizer Chiefs want big money for Du Preez

According to SoccerLaduma, Chiefs will demand R30 million for striker Ashley Du Preez as negotiations advance between Chiefs and Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes. The Amakhosi top brass are eager to maximise any revenues to reinvest them in local or foreign talent if they agree on a fee with Vitoria. 26-year-old Du Preez had a stop-start season because of injuries on either side of the international Afcon break. He made 23 appearances in the league with four goals.

A source close to the situation said: “His contract expires next season. Chiefs want to capitalise on his market value while they can. His move to Europe seems imminent.”

NABI LOSES TO A FORMER PIRATES BOSS, AGAIN

Nasreddine Nabi’s FAR Rabat side lost the Throne Cup Final on 1 July against Raja Casablanca. Raja, coached by former Pirates boss Josef Zinnbauer, pipped Nabi’s side to the Botola Pro 1 League crown by a single point. This means that Nabi’s much-anticipated move to Kaizer Chiefs will be finalized soon. He could plausibly fly to South Africa this week to be officially unveiled. Interim boss Cavin Johnson was officially sacked on Monday 1 July.

CHIEFS HOMECOMING ON THE CARDS FOR BLOM?

Njabulo Blom was a regular part of the furniture in his first season stateside. However, with only 11 league appearances from 20 this time around, his first-team status isn’t quite as secure. Now, with the dismissal of his compatriot Bradley Carnell, even more doubts over his future with St. Louis will emerge.

The 24-year-old’s contract expires in December of this year, but the club has a two-year extension option. He switched to the MLS in the final days of 2022 for a reported €300k (R6 million). His updated value, according to transfermarkt, is €1m, around R20 million. The club could most certainly do a deal for Blom for considerably less than R20 million if they play their cards right.
