Kaizer Chiefs attacker Samir Nurkovic is on track to become the club’s leading goalscorer in a single league campaign since 2005.

The Serbian forward has hit the ground running in superb fashion at Naturena after joining the Soweto giants from Slovakian outfit FC Kormano at the start of the season.

Nurkovic on track to eclipse Musona heroics

Nurkovic has found the back of the net 11 times in just 19 league appearances for the Amakhosi. On average, Nurkovic has found the back of the net in every 151 minutes of play.

If Nurkovic continues his scoring form, he’s set to eclipse Knowledge Musona’s heroics from the 2010/11 season. Musona found the back of the net 15 times in league action at an average of 153 minutes per goal.

Mbesuma magic

Collins Mbesuma set the precedent for Kaizer Chiefs strikers in 2004/05 after bagging a record 25 goals in a single league campaign.

Nurkovic reaching Mbesuma’s tally is rather impossible however the Amakhosi attacker is well on course to become the club’s top League goalscorer since Mbesuma’s heroics in 2005.

Kaizer Chiefs have returned to training ahead of the potential return of soccer in the country following the forced suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Amakhosi top the standings with a four point lead over Mamelodi Sundowns although Masandawana have a game in hand. Nurkovic has seven games left to eclipse Musona’s record.
