New star, new number?

Mfundo Vilakazi can be seen here donning the number 5 on his training shorts. It’s not often you see a flamboyant winger wearing that particular number, but perhaps the 18-year-old is ready to break that particular mould. The number was previously worn by attacking midfielder Kamohelo Mahlatsi.

Obrigado Vilakazi is part of the furniture at Kaizer Chiefs

After impressing in the Carling All-Stars match against Stellenbosch, 18-year-old Mfundo Vilakazi has been in the news for all the right reasons. Reports emerged that he was on the brink of a first-team promotion, and that news was confirmed by Amakhosi’s DStv Diski Challenge coach, Vela Khumalo, as reported by Unplayable. “Obrigado” is known for his flamboyance and showboating off both flanks of the attack. His goal in the aforementioned All-Stars game also showed off his mastery from dead-ball situations. Donay Jansen, cousin of club legend Bernard Parker, was also spotted in training and the wide attacker is on the brink of making his senior bow. He has been prolific at DStv Diski Challenge level.
