Kaizer Chiefs are set to welcome back a key defender from injury ahead of the next game, according to reports.

Chiefs have been rather decent in defence this season, no matter which combinations they field.

This will please the club’s management as the team invested in two quality centre-backs at the beginning of the season. Chiefs signed Thatayaone Ditlhokwe on a free transfer from SuperSport United, while Given Msimango joined from TS Galaxy. In October, they also added Luke Fleurs who would unfortunately go on to lose his life last week.

The was a great deal of excitement about the signing of Ditlhokwe. A solid centre-back who’s reputation was only burgeoning at SuperSport. It was regarded as an absolute steal when Chiefs announced they had signed him on a pre-contract. The player was so highly-rated at Matsatsantsa that Gavin Hunt was left fuming when he joined Amakhosi for free.

Now at Chiefs, he has not been able to make the same impact, having spent a huge chunk of the season injured. According to FARPost Ditlhokwe is now ready to return to action, having fully recovered from his shoulder injury.

Dithlokwe back from injury

“Ditlhokwe has missed 13 matches in all competitions due to the injury. However, news reaching FARPost is that the man nicknamed ‘TT’ has returned to full training with the team and could soon return to action.” Wrote the publication.

Last week, this publication reported that Ditlhokwe was edging closer to a Chiefs return. It was even thought that he was ready to play but the club management have decided to exercise caution. That perhaps explains why ended up not making the match day squad for the 2-0 loss to Chippa United last week.

Will play for Chiefs against Richards Bay?

With two more weeks worth of training, it would be expected that Ditlhokwe returns to the match day squad soon. Chiefs next play against Richards Bay FC in Durban next week Sunday.
