Despite links with Cape Town City, chairman John Comitis shares a crucial update on Kaizer Chiefs outcast Khama Billiat.

Cape Town City chairman John Comitis shares an update on Kaizer Chiefs outcast Khama Billiat, saying he is not training with his side.

Billiat left Chiefs just before the start of the current season and has been linked with moves to various continents.

However, after leaving Chiefs the latest news suggested that Billiat was set to join City as he previously worked under Comitis at the now-defunct Ajax Cape Town.

Comitis, for the first time, sets the record straight and shares an update on why they cannot sign the former Chiefs striker, Billiat.

The seasoned administrator was in conversation with Andile Ncube on Sports Night Amplified and confirmed City’s interest.

Billiat left the Naturena-based Chiefs after the expiry of his contract in June, but Comitis says the Zimbabwe-born hitman is looking for big-money offers in the Middle East.

“I’ve not had contact with Khama, to be honest, we were waiting on him to make a decision on his future, where he would like to see himself,” says Comitis.

“I think he’s still in the efforts to try and find something in the Middle East, which would be lucrative for him…

In addition, the 33-year-old former Mamelodi Sundowns star is struggling to find a new home since leaving the Soweto giants.

The South African also reported that Billiat refused to take a pay cut at Naturena, thus prompting him to leave.

EX-CHIEFS STAR HAD A CHAT WITH OUTCAST

Meanwhile, this publication also learnt that Billiat was meant to join City as his former Chiefs teammate, Lebogang Manyama had a chat with him.

While Manyama has since retired, the two gifted players featured for the Urban Warriors when Comitis was also at the club.

“Lebo Manyama had the conversation and that is the context of the conversation. Who wouldn’t want to have him [Khama] back?” adds Comitis.

“As long as he is fit to play, who wouldn’t want to have him in their team?”
