SuperSport United midfielder Jamie Webber is set to leave Matsatsantsa, making him an option for a host of PSL clubs, including Kaizer Chiefs.

Kaizer Chiefs could pounce on Webber’s contractual situation

SuperSport will not be handing the 25-year-old schemer a new deal, opting against activating a one-year extension clause. That means the midfielder will be leaving the Tshwane club at the end off this season, as things stand. There have been rumours that the Glamour Boys are keen to add him to the squad at Naturena. On a free transfer, it would be pretty appealing business.

“It is understood the option on his contract has not been exercised, with SABC Sport being informed the pre-agreed date has lapsed,” reported SABC Sport via Goal.

“That scenario then allows Webber to open talks with any interested suitor according to Fifa rules, meaning the midfielder can sign a pre-contract and move on from the Tshwane outfit effective 1 July.”

Webber fits the Chiefs profile

At 25, Webber has already been playing PSL football for five seasons since he arriving at SuperSport from Stellenbosch. He also made his Bafana Bafana debut back in 2017 as a 19-year-old.

This season, he has made 15 appearances for SuperSport across all competitions, scoring once and also assisting once. What do you think, Chiefs fans? Would Webber be a shrewd addition?
