Kaizer Chiefs: Njabulo Blom’s contract clash

Njabulo Blom has insisted that he wants to stay at Kaizer Chiefs and only wants a fair salary.

Kaizer Chiefs have not directly commented on the negotiations but leaks to the press suggest they feel Blom was asking for too much.

Why has Njabulo Blom not signed new deal

A source from within the discussions has suggested there has been some arrogance of the part of Chiefs.

“I can confirm the contract has not been renewed,” the source told Times Live in November.

“The problem is around the head coach and the sporting director (Kaizer Motaung Jr). There was an element of arrogance on their part in handling the matter.”

What do Blom and his agent say

Blom hasn’t personally spoken on this issue but his agent spoke to Metro FM in September.

“Blom earns less than a lot of players in the Kaizer Chiefs starting 11 and he has proven himself and paid his dues,” Moore said

“He now wants to negotiate based on what he has achieved. I would like to say this, and really I am not trying to sound arrogant, and it must not be taken the wrong way, but I have been in this game for a little while. When it comes to negotiations I like to do my research, I like to have certain yardsticks I measure against.” 

Kaizer Chiefs coach labels Njabulo Blom indispensable

Arthur Zwane has since come out to lable the utility player as indispensable to Kaizer Chiefs.

He has also suggested that he expects Blom to sign an extension.

“I’m not overly worried, obviously we want to see him (Blom) on the field of play. He’s got such incredible qualities,” Zwane told the media.

“We have known Blom since he was 14 years old when he came to Kaizer Chiefs and I’m sure the matter will be resolved.”
