Fast forward to the end of that season and Nurkovic finished as one of the best strikers in the league with 14 goals and six assists in 31 games, including the nickname ‘Kokota Piano.’

But the next two seasons were marked by lengthy injuries and poor form.

According to Nurokovic, Kaizer Chiefs played him with an injury as he endured pain and bad form.

“I was playing injured and could not perform at my best and I had all these surgeries,” the 29-year-old said in the latest issue of Soccer Laduma.

“When you are playing for a top club, there is pressure, they want you to come back as soon as possible.

“So you are pushing yourself and not 100% recovered. Ja, I don’t know man, this is what is meant to be.

The former Kormano player, who was falsely reported as a new Royal AM signing, added to suggest that it was impossible to show his quality while playing with pain.

“I was playing while still injured, and the fans saw, I think. What was happening, why I was not performing.

“After the surgeries, I went back to the field too fast and you have more injuries and you can’t perform,” the lanky striker added.
