Chiefs: Khune reveals text to Sundowns keeper – 18 November

Kaizer Chiefs’ legendary goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune has revealed sending a special text to Mamelodi Sundowns’ Ronwen Williams.

Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns may be rivals on the pitch, but the players do text each other some warm messages sometimes. Itumeleng Khune has revealed what he recently told Ronwen Williams.

Following Khune’s career dip in the past three seasons, Sundowns‘ Williams stepped up to help himself to the Bafana Bafana jersey number one opportunity.

With the national jersey being the highest honour in any country, what has Khune made of watching Williams take over from him?

According to the 35-year-old Chiefs veteran, he sent Williams his blessings with a text message.

“I remember giving Ronwen Williams my blessings to say I made a lot of goalkeepers retire…” Khune said on Velile Mnyandu’s YouTube channel.

“So it’s about time he made me retire. I will feel proud to see him wearing the jersey number one and having taken it from me

“Other goalkeepers I made retire, they were also proud and are still proud… So I want to leave the jersey in good hands in Ronwen, Bruce [Bvuma], Veli Mothwa, and Melusi Buthelezi,” Khune concluded.

REPORTS: AMAKHOSI WELCOME NEW STRIKER ON TRIAL

Staying with the Glamour Boys, new reports say Chiefs are set to welcome a new center forward for assessment. With coach Arthur Zwane confirming the news.
