Cavin Johnson: ‘Kaizer Chiefs can hurt teams’

Kaizer Chiefs’ interim coach Cavin Johnson has ticked his first victory in two games. Here’s what he made of the Cape Town Spurs win.

Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson has taken pleasure in his training work with Amakhosi.

The former Platinum Stars, SuperSport United and AmaZulu coach marked his debut with a bland 2-1 loss to Golden Arrows in Hammersdale last weekend, before impressing with a 3-2 win over Cape Town Spurs on Wednesday.

“It’s our second game together, 48 hours of training, I thought it was a game of a lot of patches. You have got to give credit to Cape Town Spurs. They gave us a good run for our money,” said Johnson.

“But we have been working very hard on being a lot calmer, playing the ball better, getting the ball in certain areas that we think we can hurt teams.

“And I thought the three goals we scored were from the way we trained,” the 64-year-old coach added.

NEXT DSTV PREMIERSHIP GAME FOR AMAKHOSI

Meanwhile, Chiefs are preparing for this weekend’s special league game.

Amakhosi will take on bitter rivals Orlando Pirates in the Soweto derby on Saturday 11 November, at 15:00.
