Former Chiefs star released after six months

Wow, football will shock you. Former Kaizer Chiefs speedy winger Kgaogelo Sekgota has left Stellenbosch FC six months after the move.

Former Kaizer Chiefs star Sekgota did not stay long at Stellebosch FC. The Cape Winelands club have announced his exit.

KGAOGELO SEKGOTA LEAVES KAIZER CHIEFS FOR STELLENBOSCH FC

As reported last August, the former Bidvest Wits and Moroka Swallows winger moved to the Cape.

“Stellenbosch Football Club is delighted to announce that the club has acquired the services of South Africa international Kgaogelo Sekgota,” Stellies announced on 5 August 2023.

“Sekgota is a massive signing for us,” the club’s head coach Steve Barker said.

“He’s a player who we earmarked a while back to try and get into the club, so we are delighted that he has now signed with us.

“He’s an exciting attacking player who has good pedigree, having represented his country, and who has the ability to go past players, to create opportunities for his teammates, and to score goals himself.

“We are looking for a massive impact from him and hope to help him get his career back to where it belongs, which is right at the top end of the game,” Barker added.

CONTRACT TERMINATION

After making 17 appearances with no goals or asissts, Stellenbosch have parted ways with the former Chiefs star.

“Stellenbosch Football Club can confirm that the Club has parted ways with Kgaogelo Sekgota with immediate effect,” the report said.

“Sekgota joined the Club at the start of the current season and made 17 appearances across all competitions, helping the team win the 2023 Carling Knockout trophy in the process.

“We would like to thank him for his service over the last six months and wish him well in his future endeavours,” the note concluded.

Meanwhile, the Seshego-born star will be searching for a new club.
