Kaizer Chiefs boss explains coach decision

The pressure did not yield a result. A section of Kaizer Chiefs supporters expected a new coach in January. Here’s Bobby Motaung’s answer.

Kaizer Chiefs’ existing coach is only hired on an interim basis. Why didn’t a permanent coach get appointment during the current pre-season?

KAIZER CHIEFS BOSS BOBBY MOTAUNG ON NEW COACH

Interim coach Cavin Johnson played seven games that included four wins, two draws and one defeat.

Despite impressing a section of Amakhosi supporters and staff, the club’s hierarchy confirmed that the search for a new coach is on.

Speaking to the media, the club’s Football Manager, Motaung, said introducing a new coach during the season is ill-timing.

“If we bring a new coach now, it will cause a lot of confusion for us in terms of stability,” Motaung said, as quoted by Selebalo Phasha.

“Coaches come with demands, these demands in the middle of the season can impact badly on the team,” he concluded.

KAIZER JR ON KELETSO MAKGALWA NEWS

According to the report by iDiskiTimes’ leading reporter, Sinethemba Makonco, lower division side Upington City and Chiefs agreed on the numbers to sign Makgalwa.

“Motsepe Foundation Championship side Upington City have agreed terms with Kaizer Chiefs for Keletso Makgalwa’s move but he will only join Amakhosi at the beginning of the 2024/25 season,” the report said.

What is the meaning of agreed terms?

In case you’re not sure, agreeing on terms involves three to four numbers:

The price to buy the player (if he still has a contract with the selling club), the salary, the length of the contract and the signing-on fee to the player (eg. R250 000).

The next step will be the arrival of the contract in Makgalwa’s hands for him to sign.
