Kaizer Chiefs are set to announce a new coach and captain in coming weeks as they enter into a new chapter of Amakhosi football.

Kaizer Chiefs are set to announce a new coach and captain in coming weeks as they enter into a new chapter of Amakhosi football.

Massive changes are aloft at Naturena.

Amakhosi’s hierarchy are set to appoint a new coach at the start of 2024. Furthermore, Itumeleng Khune’s suspension from training has opened the door for a new leader. Therefore, Chiefs will have a new coach and captain within the next couple of weeks.

CHIEFS TO APPOINT NEW COACH AT THE START OF 2024

Cavin Johnson is currently the head coach of Amakhosi.

However, he was appointed on an interim basis. Meaning, their will be a new head coach officially appointed at the start of 2024. This was already decided by Amakhosi management last month as they want to give him time to mould the team.

The new coach will have the final say with all signings and player exits.

As things stand, Chiefs are looking at signing an overseas based coach.

Moreover, they want the next coach to be the long-term solution as they are looking at giving signing him on a five-year deal, as reported on The South African.

“The management is currently still negotiating with some candidates; they are looking to appoint a quality coach who will be with the team for five years at least so that he can have ample time to develop the current team. They are looking outside the country,” the source stated on KickOff.

NEW CAPTAIN TO REPLACE KHUNE

Khune has been officially suspended from all Chiefs related activities for an indefinite period of time.

This comes after he reportedly came to training drunk. Meanwhile, Amakhosi need a new club captain. This is another decision that will be finalised by the new coach but in the meantime a decision must be made by Johnson. Keagan Dolly is the vice-captain and he will lead the side if he starts. If he does not start then Yusuf Maart will likely don the captains armband.
