“What stood out for me was the support, the atmosphere at the games was truly magnificent. We could feel the support and that, for me, was a key factor, the number one factor, in me performing the way I did.. It is motivating and to see it happen every game is fantastic so I look forward to every game.

“When it comes to applying the technical and tactical side, I think I have done very well, according to the team’s principles and structures, so I can only build from that going forward and keep improving my game.”

Msimango is keen to face his former teammates at TS Galaxy in Mbombela on Sunday.

“I’m looking forward to the game. It is going to be a good one. They are a good team, playing well and we are a great team playing well, so it’s going to be a good fixture for us,” he said.

“That’s where emotional intelligence comes into it.

“Obviously, it’s emotional to play against your former employers, people that gave you a platform and opportunities to shine at the highest level of South African football, the PSL, but I have to keep that in check and focus on the task at hand. I need to do a job for my current employers, which s Kaizer Chiefs, my new family and help them get maximum points.”

Msimango had little to say about changes at Galaxy with his focus firmly on Kaizer Chiefs.

“They have had a lot of changes, like any other team,” he added.

“They lost a few key players last season but the players they have brought in have kept up the quality and the team is playing well. We just need to go there and win and make our supporters happy.”
