According to interim coach Cavin Johnson, Kaizer Chiefs would not make any changes to their playing squad this January.

Johnson had claimed that he needed more time to coach the current crop of players at Chiefs, instead of changes.

On that list, one player that Johnson seems to have given a lifeline too is utility star Mashiane. The player was completely in the wilderness under both Arthur Zwane and Molefi Ntseki. The player has since found himself in several match days under the new mentor and made a few substitute appearances. Chiefs fans would have then got the impression that he was now in the plans going forward.

To further prove that point, this publication had previously reported that Chiefs had decided to keep Mashiane. The left-footed wizard was thought to be in the plans at least until the end of the season. It was said that his situation would then be looked at when the season concludes. Now, however, after the latest report that seems to have changed.

Mashiane now set to leave Chiefs?

This comes after this publication reported that Chiefs had decided to place five players on a loan list. The list featured the likes of Radebe, Duba and Zwane who were no surprise, but Mashiane featuring on it was a shock. Now that could mean one of two things, either Johnson changed his mind or the player asked for a loan. It remains to be seen how accurate that list is, however, and if clubs will make advances for him.

Mashiane has been part of the Chiefs first team set up for at least five year now, with very little progress. It might not be a bad idea for him to leave and seek first team football to progress his career.
