Their lacklustre performance against Marumo Gallants ended their five-match winning streak, as Amakhosi had to settle for a draw at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Kaizer Chiefs stayed in fourth place, two points behind Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United, who are also vying for the second spot to represent South Africa in the CAF Champions League next season.

Orlando Pirates secured a 2-0 victory against Chippa United earlier on Saturday, while SuperSport United beat TS Galaxy by the same score on Good Friday.

Kaizer Chiefs initially led the game thanks to Ashley du Preez’s opener in the sixth minute, but defender Edmilson Dove’s mistake gifted Marumo Gallants’ Ranga Chivaviro with an easy equaliser in the 36th minute.

Kaizer Chiefs’ passing and combinations in the final third were poor, leaving fans frustrated with their lack of penetration.

Marumo Gallants collected a valuable point, moving away from the bottom of the log on goal difference, while eight other teams could still be drawn into the relegation battle.
