Former Kaizer Chiefs midfield general Willard Katsande has landed an exciting new role on the technical team of Crystal Lake FC.

Crystal Lake make teaser announcement on Katsande

Crystal Lake took to their Facebook account to announce that Willard Katsande has joined their technical team. His actual role hasn’t been specified yet but he’s likely to be working closely with the head coach and his staff. Katsande was recently an ambassador for Sekhukhune, one of his old clubs, but it’s clear that coaching is the next step for the 38-year-old Zimbabwean. His new club currently ply their trade in the ABC Motsepe League and was recently dumped out of the Nedbank Cup by Orlando Pirates.

Kaizer Chiefs legend status confirmed

Katsande represented Chiefs for a decade between 2011 and 2021, making 309 appearances for the Glamour Boys. Any player who brings up a triple century had to be doing something right. Many observers believe that Amakhosi still haven’t replaced his bite, presence and intelligence in the centre of the park. Katsande was a cornerstone of Chiefs sides who won the 2013 and 2015 DStv Premiership crowns.

DOVE TO MISS ORLANDO PIRATES CLASH

Mozambican defender Edmilson Dove committed a professional foul against Moroka Swallows. The red card he subsequently received ruled him out of Amakhosi’s midweek 1-0 win over Golden Arrows and a clash with Orlando Pirates at the weekend. The Glamour Boys face Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby on Saturday 9 March. Kickoff in the big one is at 15:30.
