Zambian attacker Lazarous Kambole has no intention of leaving Kaizer Chiefs despite a torrid time at the club in which he believes he was played out of his usual position.

Kambole joined Kaizer Chiefs from Zesco United in 2019 with a large reputation however he’s yet to leave his mark at Naturena.

Kambole has just one goal to his name in 39 appearances but he remains optimistic he can prove his worth in the final year of his three-year contract at the Glamour Boys.

Kaizer Chiefs are expected to make a number of changes at the club during the coming season but the Zambian is adamant he won’t be one of them.

I’m still a Kaizer Chiefs player – Kambole

“When it’s a transfer window period, of course there are always rumours. At the moment I am a Kaizer Chiefs player and that’s what matters. I don’t want to stress about rumours,” Lazarous Kambole told Sowetan.

Kambole hints at being played out of position

While Kaizer Chiefs are home to arguably two of the finest strikers in the league in Leonardo Castro and Samir Nurkovic, Kambole has been forced to spend most of his time out wide.

“We, as footballers, we are employed to play football. So as a player you need to be flexible, you need to at least play more than two positions.”

“Once you’re called upon to play a certain position, you mustn’t say ‘no’ because you’re paid to play football. For me, it’s nice to be able to play different positions. I enjoy football regardless of the position I am playing.”

Kaizer Chiefs will be gearing up to face Wydad Casablanca in the semifinals of the CAF Champions League. The Amakhosi are only expected to announce their transfer business after their run on the continent comes to a close.
