Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are believed to be going head to head for a number of transfer targets.

Chiefs and Pirates are both known for wanting to boost their respective squads with the best quality available.

It is believed that, this time around it will be no different between the two Soweto giants. This, of course, will inevitably see them clash for certain targets. According to reports they’re already clashing for Stanley Nwabali, Oswin Appollis, Elias Mokwana, Riaan Hanamub and Shaune Mogaila. That does not seem to be where the list ends, however, with a new name set to be part of the tug-of-war.

According to Soccer-Laduma, Chiefs are interested in signing Ivorian striker Freddy Michael Kouablan. The hitman currently turns out for Tanzanian giants Simba SC, and was first the subject of interest from Pirates. It now looks as if, the player might have the luxury of choosing which side of Soweto he wants to play for.

Pirates and Chiefs clash for Kouablan?

“Yes, it’s true it is the same player that Pirates have been monitoring. That was when he was still in Zambia, but he moved to Tanzania in January. Chiefs are also believed to have shown interest and enquired about him. He is a very good striker and I believe he can fit in any team that could get him. So for now, both teams have shown interest in him (Kouablan).” Said a source.

The source also reiterated that Simba are willing to negotiate with Chiefs for Kouablan.

Simba willing to sell?

“ He had a very good first half of the season in Zambia before moving to Simba in Tanzania. They want him to help them mainly in the Champions League where they’ve reached the quarter-finals. But if a good offer comes through, they won’t hesitate to let him go. Now that Chiefs are interested in him and their scouts are monitoring him, it will all depend on the talks at the end of the day” concluded the source.

Will Pirates also follow through with their initial interest? Or will Chiefs get a free shot at Kouablan?
