Kaizer Chiefs receive Pule Mmodi boost

AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu has denied that talks between his club and Golden Arrows have taken place over a possible move for attacker Pule Mmodi. That’s according to Goal.

Mmodi has been persistently linked with Kaizer Chiefs for as long as we can remember, as well as AmaZulu, but it seems as though Usuthu are distancing themselves from the player. This could be a key development for the Glamor Boys, who would prefer a clear run at their priority transfer target.

AmaZulu officials deny Mmodi contact for now

Mmodi’s agent, Solomon Seobe, recently brushed aside Chiefs’ reported interest and stated that AmaZulu whose interest was more concrete. However, things change quickly in football.

“I’m not sure what they are talking about. I don’t know what they are talking about. Maybe the agent might be able to answer this, it’s he who said AmaZulu are the only team to have approached them.” Usuthu chairman Zungu told KickOff.

“I have no idea who is he talking to at AmaZulu. Who does he say he is talking to about Mmodi?”

While Zungu says they have not talked to AmaZulu directly about signing Mmodi, he hasn’t hidden his admiration for the player, who he would sign should the opportunity arise.

“He’s an extremely exciting player, we would definitely love to have him at AmaZulu. There is no question about that. But whether we will have him or not it’s a different matter,” said Zungu.

What’s next?

Intriguingly, Mmodi and Golden Arrows face Kaizer Chiefs when the DStv Premiership resumes. Mmodi will hope to make a point on New Year’s Day, just in time for the dawn of the new year. Just another intriguing subplot to stir this pot.
