Yusuf Maart returns for the next PSL game

The ex-Sekhukhune midfield schemer missed the win against Stellenbosch at the weekend, but he’ll be back and available for selection. That’s certainly good news for coach Arthur Zwane, who’s looking for a sixth consecutive win across all competitions. In an area of the pitch where the Glamour Boys aren’t blessed with massive depth, this is a boost.

Chiefs PSL trophy drought doesn’t compare to that of Orlando Pirates

Masandawana have won the PSL in eight of the last 10 campaigns, with Bidvest Wits in 2017 and Kaizer Chiefs in 2015 the only sides to break up a total monopoly for a decade. Pirates, you say? Their last league title was all the way back in 2012. That’s well over a decade. They did go back-to-back in both 2011 and 2012, but that all feels like a long time ago right now. Also, in the past 11 seasons, Chiefs have won two titles. Pirates have won zero.

Amakhosi face rock-bottom Gallants next

Although Marumo Gallants are unbeaten in their last three games, two were draws and coach Zwane will see this as an opportunity to pick up three more precious PSL points.

Dolly and Du Preez are back among the goals

Keagan Dolly has been criticized for his lack of end-product, but the ex-Montpellier man looked sharp at the weekend. Chiefs management will be delighted to start seeing goals arriving from different sources.

The Glamour Boys are on the verge of a key defensive signing

It’s a matter of time before Given Msimango is confirmed as a Chiefs player. He’ll join Thatayaone Ditlhokwe as yet another high-quality central defender to join the ranks within Naturena, adding leadership and versatility to Zwane’s options.
