Kaizer Chiefs are seeking to get the perfect balance between youth and experience in their squad ahead of the new season.
Stuart Baxter has already signed 9 players to Naturena with an evident focus on both youngsters and veterans.
Baxter knows the value of building a squad around experienced veterans. He won the 2015 PSL campaign by building his side around club legends like Bernard Parker, Willard Katsande, Eric Mathoho and Itumeleng Khune.
Since rejoining Chiefs, he has extended the stay of Khune and Parker.
Unfortunately, Katsande calls a halt to what has been a dedication of commitment and dedication to Amakhosi. He will go down as a club legend. All of these players played their part and now carry priceless value to a Chiefs side looking to return to their glory days.
Baxter has brought in Sifiso Hlanti, a PSL veteran. Hlanti will mentor and guide those around him. Mabiliso is one of the hottest rising prospects in the league and will grow around the tutelage of Hlanti. As will promising young defender, Njabulo Blom.
Dolly will bring heap loads of experience having played in Europe for French-side Montpellier. His maturity on and off the pitch offers players like Happy Mashiane and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo a chance to grow and learn from him.
Youthful exuberance is equally important to Baxter and the club. The likes of Kgaogelo Sekgota and Sibusiso Mabiliso bring an injection of energy and excitement to Chiefs next season. Their passion and flair give Amakhosi an attacking edge.
Sekgota and Mabiliso are signings to get excited for. They are enthralling to watch. Sekgota is highly skilled and has a positive attacking mindset.
We saw a sneak preview of what he brings against Orlando Pirates when he came off the bench.
Sekgota was the first man from Naturena voted onto the pitch off the bench. Making an immediate impact off the bench. With every touch, he brought excitement and promise.
Mabiliso offers exceptional speed down the left. He also covers a lot of meters on defence. Mabiliso’s speed creates an attacking option out wide on attack for Chiefs. His overlapping runs will give Lebogang Manyama an extra option to pick out on the counter.
Experience brings wisdom and youth adds energy. Baxter is building an extremely balanced side for next season’s DStv Premiership.
