Chiefs fans must accept their new reality

Take a stroll around any part of South Africa and you’re likely to see black and gold jerseys in abundance. Kaizer Chiefs are huge. However, their on-pitch stature no longer matches their continent-wide popularity. They may be the most decorated team in South African football, but Chiefs haven’t won a major trophy in eight years. Chiefs must take things one game at a time

Make peace with the fact that Kaizer Chiefs won’t be contending the DStv Premiership title this season or even in the next two. A top two place is remotely achievable, but even that is a stretch by the looks of it. If they finish in the top two, it should be treated as a pleasant surprise.

AmaZulu vs Chiefs kicks off tonight at 19:30.
