A duo of high quality PSL defenders

Thatayaone Ditlhokwe arrives from SuperSport with a big reputation, having already captained the Botswana national team at 24 years of age. He is a specialist central defender but can fill in at left-back. Meanwhile, another man drafted in to improve the Chiefs defence is Given Msimango. Like Ditlhokwe, he’s no stranger to holding a leadership role having captained TS Galaxy. At 26, he’s still far from his peak years as a defender and is a tall, stylish operator on the ball.

Midfield reinforced

Chiefs trailed 28-year-old Mduduzi Mdantsane for some time, and they’ll be happy to have acquired a man with his technical quality. A left-footer, he’ll provide extra creativity, guile and variety in the final third but can also play a more withdrawn central midfield role if required in a 4-3-2-1. Venezuelan star Edson Castillo arrives from his homeland and gives coach Ntseki a number of options. He is a cultured midfield schemer who likes to operate in deeper areas and has earned six caps for his country. Linking midfield and attack is a key role in football, and these two are specialists in different phases of play.

RUMOUR: Chiefs could still welcome three three names

Kaizer Chiefs need goals

The Glamour Boys were goal-shy last season, scoring just 32 goals in 30 league matches. To that end, they’ve brought in dangerous wide attacker Pule Mmodi from Golden Arrows after a long pursuit. They’ve also finally sealed a deal for Ranga Chivaviro, a 30-year-old number 9 who bagged 17 goals in 30 matches across all competitions last season. He’ll give this side a much-needed focal point.

What do you think of the club’s business so far?
