Kaizer Chiefs ready to sacrifice Khune to land Nwabili

Amakhosi have identified Stanley Nwabili as their marquee goalkeeper target. They’ll reportedly move mountains to sign the Chippa man, who has kept three clean sheets in four AFCON outings so far. The 27-year-old was withdrawn in Nigeria’s 2-0 win over Cameroon in the Round of 16 with an injury but will be desperate to be fit for their quarter-final with Angola on February 2nd.

“As it stands, the situation is that the club (Chiefs) is looking at releasing two goalkeepers to open up space for (Stanley) Nwabili. He is on top of the list of players to be signed at the end of the season and the indications are that two goalkeepers will be released so that they have at least four goalkeepers in the first team then one from their DDC side. That’s the situation right now.” Said one source to Soccer-Laduma.

“As for Itu (Khune) it’s about his contract. It’s coming to an end in June and as you know Sekhukhune United are interested in him. With Bontle (Molefe) he has indicated that he wants game time away from Chiefs and those two could open up space for Stanley (Nwabili),” said the source.

Nwabili is a wanted man

The Chippa man’s performances in the Ivory Coast with his country have won him admirers around the globe. Chiefs will have to fight tooth and nail to secure his signature, and they’d also have to free up space in their playing squad for the Nigerian star.
