Kaizer Chiefs captain bows out soon

Itumeleng Khune has represented Kaizer Chiefs with great distinction. He recently made his 364th appearance for Amakhosi, the most of any player in the club’s PSL era history. The 2023-24 campaign will be his last at the club as a player, so a long-term replacement must therefore be found. Katlehong-born Lungile Nkosi, still just 20, is thought to be that man.

Dolly and Hlanti to depart

Club vice-captain Keagan Dolly signed a two-year deal in 2021 with an option for a further year. He is now in that extension year and a further extension looks unlikely. The 30-year-old former Montpellier man has been battling with a knee injury sustained in April. He did recently return from that injury but the club is thought to be eyeing a long-term replacement already with the name of Tashreeq Matthews mentioned. The 23-year-old is currently in Sweden’s top flight with Sirius and has also had a sting with German giants Borussia Dortmund. Sifiso Hlanti, meanwhile, is 33 and unlikely to be offered a new deal when his current one expires in June 2024.
