Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo is confident the Amakhosi can beat Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca in their CAF Champions League clash.

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Cavin Johnson has opened up on fan-favourite Nkosingiphile Ngcobo.

The Amakhosi academy graduate has been tipped with a major future at the club, however in his sixth year with the first team, Ngcobo is yet to produce the fireworks.

Ngcobo has made 83 appearances for the Kaizer Chiefs first team, scoring six goals and assisting three more.

His place in the Amakhosi first team is under serious scrutiny, but here’s what interim head coach Cavin Johnson had to say about the 23-year-old.

Kaizer Chiefs coach clarifies Ngcobo’s position at club

“Mshini [Ngcobo] is the young Kaizer Chiefs player of the future,” Johnson said as quoted by FarPost.

“I think he just misses out on a lot of match fitness. But he had a big injury, a lot of you know that. He came back recently. He was out for a while, six months.

“So he’s just come back this season. He’s showing his capabilities. If we can get him ASAP back to where he should be, then he will play more often.”

In other news, Fifa President Gianni Infantino has opened up on his thoughts regarding Saturday’s blockbuster clash between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

“It was an incredible experience in this Soweto Derby. It was the first for me and the fans were incredible. I mean, two teams were fighting until the end and Orlando Pirates won.” FIFA president Gianni Infantino said as quoted by IdiskiTimes.

“But Kaizer Chiefs really put on a fight, but it was a great game. The most emotional was what was happening on the field – we went to the public in the stadium, full house, incredible.

“I had forgotten how emotional this stadium is and also the city. I mean, I was watching this morning when I arrived [on Saturday] everyone was looking forward to this game, so it was a great game, great atmosphere, passion and incredible fans.”
