Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma is pleased to finally be getting some minutes under his belt, despite them coming at the tail-end of a disappointing league campaign.

Bvuma acknowledged that PSL performances from Kaizer Chiefs have left much to be desired but is grateful that he can show what he has in his locker.

Injuries afford Bvuma his chance

Injuries to regular keepers Itumeleng Khune (shoulder) and Daniel Akpeyi (concussion) saw Bvuma drafted into the playing XI against TTM, where he put in a creditable display in a 2-1 defeat.

Bvuma is likely to start again when Kaizer Chiefs take on Moroka Swallows in a Soweto Derby on Wednesday afternoon.

“Of course I am happy, I won’t lie. I am happy that now I’ve been given a chance to play even though the results didn’t come out the way we wanted, but I am happy for the opportunity,” Bvuma told the media.

“I knew that if I can pray and wait on God, then he will answer my prayers. Here I am now playing and I am very grateful. When it comes to my readiness, I feel like I am prepared because I have been working very hard since I’ve been out of the team through the season with the goalkeeper coach (Lee Baxter) and the other goalkeepers. I believe that I am ready and every one of the goalkeepers here at the club, if they all get a chance to play, I believe that we can all perform because of the way we work. We are all ready for opportunities.”

Kaizer Chiefs still chasing top 8

Victory by a two-goal margin will lift Kaizer Chiefs into eighth spot on the log with the club desperate to avoid a second bottom half finish in three seasons.

“I know we are not in a good position, but it’s not like we are not working hard or giving it our all to be in a better position. We will get positive results and make sure we finish in a respectable position,” Bvuma added.
