Kaizer Chiefs fans have to plan trips to Durban. The MTN8 semi-final home leg against AmaZulu will no longer take part at the FNB Stadium, thanks to the Canadian megastar musician Justin Bieber.

According to Stadium Management SA CEO Bertie Grobbelaar, the venue was booked for Bieber long before the PSL and MTN confirmed the semi-final fixtures on 1 October.

“Indeed, correct, we have signed a deal [with big concerts] for the concert on the 1st of October. At that time, the fixtures were not out. The stadium will not be available on the first of October,” Grobbelaar confirmed as quoted by FARPost.

Grobbelaar added to note that the Stadium is a football arena but filling it up with a superstar like Bieber is a much-needed financial opportunity after the venue was inactive for two years.

“I know at one stage it was referred to as ‘Concert City’ [instead of Soccer City], and that’s definitely not the intention of Stadium Management. Our venue is primarily for football,” he added

“But I think you will appreciate the fact that we clutching at every opportunity to recover from the devastating impact of Covid,” he concluded.

BIEBER ANNOUNCES HEALTH BREAK

Meanwhile, the pop singer’s trip to South Africa has gone into jeopardy. Bieber announced on Tuesday night that he needs to take an urgent break from touring.

With under a month to go before the Mzansi events, it remains to be seen if the 28-year-old will recover in the next two weeks or so.
