Kaizer Chiefs: Bobby Motaung issues huge coach update

Kaizer Chiefs manager Bobby Motaung has issues a major update on their coach search with huge implications for Cavin Johnson.

Johnson was employed on an interim basis after former coach Molefi Ntseki was sacked. The plan was for him to take over until January.

However, management are impressed with his start so far which has altered their original plans. So, let’s take a look at the latest plans for Johnson and Amakhosi amidst their coaching search.

JOHNSON TO REMAIN ON UNTIL THE END OF THE SEASON

Johnson will see out the rest of the season.

“We will allow him to run until the end of the season,” Motaung told SoccerLaduma.

Meaning, Amakhosi will no longer be hiring a new coach in the current January transfer window, as initially planned.

Johnson has had a solid start with Amakhosi, winning four, drawing one and losing two of his first seven games.

Management feel he is the right man for the time being and they are pleased with what he has brought to the team.

“I think with the positives we saw in the games he took over, he can do well and succeed,” he added.

AMAKHOSI MANAGEMENT STILL SEARCHING FOR NEW CHIEFS COACH

Johnson will stay on until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Amakhosi are still looking for a new coach. The plan is for Johnson to return to head of academy with a new coach coming in at the end of the season but Johnson can’t be ruled out of the running. Especially, if he has a solid run with the team during the second half of the PSL.
